evenstill (based out of Greenville, Texas) was formed shortly after Brian and I (Jonathan) attended the National Worship Leader’s Conference in Austin in the summer of 2008. During the week, God spoke to both of us in a powerful and distinct way… we found ourselves both broken and full of praise and love for God’s blessings in our lives. We responded to this by praying, singing, and writing a new song every evening of the conference. We were so thankful for God’s grace and glory.
Shortly after, we began sharing these songs with our different churches and found that God was using them in a mighty way. After much prayer, we eventually began putting a band together to continue following the leading of the Holy Spirit. It became clear rather quickly that each of the band members had a common calling and a common characteristic of what God was doing among us… which helped to bring about the band name, evenstill.
We all look at who we used to be and who we are now… our constant struggles and sins… and while those things exist, even still, God has called us to praise Him and to glorify His Name. 1 Timothy 1:15-16 says:
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – and I was the worst of them all. But that is why God had mercy on me, so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners.”
This is who we are… sinners… saved by grace, but we are also unapologetic worshippers of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Our desire is to help in leading others in the worship of God and to help them to connect their minds and their hearts fully to Him.
